"Engineers are expected to be able to explain a complex technology or product in simple, easily-understood terms not because the executive needs it explained simply to understand it, but as proof that the engineer understands it completely. This is pretty much standard practice at Apple."

"In its simplest form, foreign policy is based on three pillars: values, interests, and power."

“Business skills, when well applied, can do more than just make money. They can potentially make money and do some real good, which is immensely satisfying. To do that, it’s important to think outside the box, take risks and be an entrepreneur. A little bit of good can turn into a whole lot of good when fueled by a social entrepreneur."

Engineers are creative types. They are responsible for dreaming up and building systems that companies will implement or sell, with the goal of improving the bottom line. Because their roles require team building and leadership, engineers must be able to clearly communicate complex ideas and technical project plans.
They also need to be strong persuaders to see their designs come to fruition and especially to confront safety issues. Building consensus is a giant step toward delivering a project on time, safely and according to specifications.
